Testimonials
My little girl started at West Moonah Community Preschool in February 2014. We had tried other childcare centres but she hadn't settled in and it was traumatic for everyone involved. From the beginning my husband and I felt a lot more comfortable with the standard of care our little one was receiving by the amazing staff especially Tanya and Emma. The staff are really wonderful with communication and understanding what each child needs and really listen to any concerns that we have had in regards to settling in.
In the year since Sofia has been attending preschool she has gained so much confidence in her own ability. She has gone from a clingy little thing who would cry when we left her to a self assured little girl who skips into her pre school with barely a look back and a wave. The preschool follows the early years education framework which give the children an amazing head start and sets them up so well for kindergarten. I can't recommend wmch enough.  The love and care the staff have for the children in the class is above and beyond. My daughter now asks to go to school on her days off and leaves preschool each day with a hug and a kiss for her teachers. I am glad we have another year in the fantastic facility before she starts school.

I currently have two children attending Pre School at the West Moonah Community Centre and I couldn't recommend the program enough.
Coming from interstate I was initially quite concerned about the pre school options available to me because my children fell outside the cut off age for kinder. Most of the program's I found appeared care based, with education a secondary factor. West Moonah offered one of the few program's that drew from the early childhood learning framework and that based it's program around recognisable and transferable outcomes. It was also one of the minority that wasn't a child care centre first, preschool second.
Attending the centre has also provided me with a great deal of comfort knowing that my son will be going into Prep in Queensland next year. I firmly believe through going to Preschool with Tanya and Emma (& the other support staff) has left him in no way disadvantaged by not having completed a formal kindergarten program. The friendly staff has also meant my normally shy and reserved daughter has been begging to attend & happily participates now she has turned three.
I feel it is excellently ran, resourced and incredibly valuable to the children of Hobart. The affordability and accessibility is second to none, and the professional, caring way that potential issues and concerns are raised is inline with everything that I believe early childhood education should encompass.
I hope this program can continue to run for many years to come.
